Dianne Weeks – Manager

Di has specialised in the field of Gerontic Nursing since 1990 when she was an Educator in a Gerontic Nursing Award program in Adelaide and discovered a passion for this area of Nursing.  The Award was a post graduate program for Registered Nurses who worked in Aged Care in both clinical practice and management.

On returning to Queensland she put the principles she had been teaching into practice and re-entered the clinical area as a Director of Nursing of a Nursing Home on the Sunshine Coast.

With the proposed introduction of Accreditation looming, the organisation she was working for introduced a regional management structure to assist facilities develop Quality Management systems and Di was selected to become the Regional Manager for QLD and Northern NSW, which involved five Aged Care facilities from Nambour to Murwillumbah.   Di remained in this role for five years before joining another national Aged Care provider, in a similar role but with the additional responsibility of eight facilities

She believes that the principles on which the delivery of Aged Care should be based have not wavered:

  • the person who enters an Aged Care facility does not cease to be that ‘person’, even if they are called a ‘resident’ and this is the basis from which all care should be delivered; and

  • the community of the Aged Care facility includes all those who call it home and all those who provide the range of care and services required and this forms the basis of a Quality Management approach.

Di is a Registered Nurse.  She holds a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Diploma of Nursing Education and is a Master of Nursing Studies.
